The Great Lakes Glitzy Girl Friends held its Vintage Fashion Jewelry Convention in St. Joseph, Mich. on Oct. 1-3 with 44 people in attendance. Thursday started with a pre-convention “cruise” along Lake Michigan to shops in Michigan and Indiana, topping off the evening with an Italian dinner.

Friday night was “Fall Into Michigan” and conventioneers wore their fall-colored outfits and jewelry. The tables were adorned with vintage pins as souvenirs and beautiful fall arrangements. Carole Ann Ashley gave a wonderful talk on “Hollywood –The Golden Years” with examples from her collection.

On Saturday, 30 of the attendees participated in a free open to the public sale at the Boulevard Hotel on Lake Michigan. Marsha Ruby brought many vintage clothes, hats, shoes and adornments to sell. The sellers reported good sales, and traffic was steady. Sandra Monahu presented her informative program “Is it a Haskell?” and during dinner that evening, Mary Ann-Docktor Smith gave an interesting presentation on Florenza.

Sunday morning “Antiques on the Bluff” was outside the hotel’s door. A buffet lunch followed with members sharing their collections – Eisenberg, jelly bellies, Juliana (DeLizza & Elster), Mexican, Patricia Locke, Ruby 2 & Flying Colors, and high-end 1970s.

Connie Yore, the event’s coordinator, extends a big thank you to all who attended, especially her club members and the program presenters – she couldn’t have done it without you!
