CJCI CONVENTION 2020 CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

March 29, 2020 – As always, we are currently taking the health and safety of our attendees very seriously as we closely monitor developments with the COVID-19 virus. We have been working with the Radisson more closely than usual to determine the best course of action. All options are still being considered, and we will share more news here on our site, on our Facebook page, and via email when it is available. In the meantime, we are extending the deadline for pre-deposit attendees to April 15. Thank you for your patience while we establish the best course to take in planning CJCI Convention 2020. – Melinda & Pam

FULL PAYMENTS Being Accepted for Pre-Registration Deposit Attendees Through April 15

Registration will be open from now until March 31, 2020 April 15,2020 for those who have made PRE-REGISTRATION DEPOSITS only. SPECIAL GUESTS AND SPEAKERS

Join us in welcoming the following speakers and special guests during our CJCI Convention 2020:

Patricia Gostick presenting “McClelland Barclay Jewelry: The Truth Revealed” – This author, jewelry historian, and long-time CJCI member, will discuss the history of McClelland Barclay. Patricia has spent 20 years researching this highly regarded jewelry manufacturer and will reveal details from her upcoming book, McClelland Barclay: Painter of Beautiful Women and More to be released at the time of the convention!

Julia Carroll presenting “Exploring the Shared Attitudes/Traits of Successful Jewelry Makers” – This author of the highly regarded “Collecting 101, 202, and 303” books on costume jewelry will explore five shared traits for three successful jewelry manufacturers with jewelry examples to add sparkle to each idea. This is a fun way for new collectors to learn about the rich history of these three giants in costume jewelry history and allows experienced collectors to revisit the greatness of these companies from a new perspective.

Gregory Brannan presenting “An Insider’s Look as an Industry Executive and Collector” – Get an inside look at the costume jewelry industry as Greg Brannan shares his experiences working in executive positions with notable companies such as the Monet Group and Haskell. Learn about how the costume jewelry industry has evolved since the late 1970s and hear about some of Mr. Brannan’s accomplishments and noteworthy experiences in the business. He will also talk about his collection of Trifari jewelry, and how working in the business has gone hand in hand with his journey as a collector.

Eve Townsend presenting “Schreiner: Masters of Twentieth-Century Costume Jewelry” – Join Eve Townsend, co-author of the book Schreiner: Masters of Twentieth-Century Costume Jewelry as she shares the rich history of one of North America’s foremost designers of high-end costume jewelry. Experience never-before-seen photographs and personal recollections from the private archives of the Schreiner family, Eve’s talk will open a sparkling window to the fashion world of New York City from the 1930s through the 70s, and onto one of its most famous “unknown” jewelry designers. With original research by Eve Townsend and a richly curated display of jewelry from the world-renowned Carole Tanenbaum Vintage Collection, this unique collaboration and talk presents a layered look at the history and legacy of the Schreiner Jewelry Company.

Heleen Andrik van Elburg presenting “Transitioning from Costume Jewelry Collector to Dealer”– Respected European costume jewelry dealer, speaker, and former CJCI Convention attendee Heleen Andrik van Elburg will share her costume jewelry journey of transitioning from collector to dealer. Along with her expertise and suggestions for success, she’ll also share how she discovered that costume jewelry lets everybody shine!

Mary Ann Docktor-Smith presenting “Vintage Costume Jewelry Manufacturing Concepts: Capturing the Design and Creating the Piece”. Join costume jewelry dealer and historian Mary Ann Docktor-Smith as she explores the wonder of jewelry manufacturing. When we hold a piece of costume jewelry, we typically wonder “Who made it?” followed by “When was it made?” and “What was it made of?” The question we ask less often is “How was it made?” This presentation will explore the fabrication, design, and construction processes used to create costume jewelry.
